Long weekend at the beach
On Monday I Went to the beach with my family. In the morning it was cloudy and looked like it was going to rain. We got up and got ready. Eventually we left and it started raining. It rained then stopped then rained again and it got sunny around an hour later. We went to a far beach called Maraetai. When we got there my sister and my mum made surimi salad while my brother went to get fish and chips. Surimi Salad is a seafood salad my mum made it with shrimp, crabmeat and coconut cream. We waited for the rest of the food then ate surimi salad and fish and chips. After a while I went for a swim and played in the sand with my niece. The waves were crashing on the beach like charging horses! . I helped my niece make a sand castle but then she put water on top of it and stepped on it. She said she was cold so we went and got changed. After that we walked to the park, played on the swings and the slide. When we finished playing we walked back and got ready to go before we left. We got cookies and cream ice cream and headed home. It was an amazing day. My favourite part was when my niece stepped on the sand castle.

Magical Matariki fort day 17.08.23 In room 2 we decided to have a fort day as it links to Matariki. The reason why fort day links to matariki is because as a class we come together. The fort represents camping and night time when you see the matariki stars. We are going to work together and contribute to discussions when sharing stories. Matariki is about celebrations and happiness. We are going to make the fort by using blankets, sheets, chairs and different things that we brought and things that are in the class. We are also going to put stuff in the fort to make it nice and comfy. After that we are going to do some activities inside the fort like doing some art, cards, board games and more amazing things Miss Smith has planned for us!
I learned facts about beavers.
First we read a text about beavers and how they live and survive in the world. After finishing the text we answered a few questions for example, how do beavers protect themselves from icy conditions.
Next we made a slideshow that includes facts about beavers. You have to put 5 facts maximum in the slideshow.
One of the facts I put were that they have strong front teeth to gnaw on hair wood or things to make their dam/home.
I enjoyed this task because I learned facts about beavers.
